More flea market, eBay and antique show finds like the Egg Scale, Cricket pull-toy and assorted croquet balls find their way into my paintings. This is actually the second version of this composition. I had sold the first one immediately after posting it on Instagram; but I liked the composition it so much, I decided to give it another go, albeit with some slight revisions. As with my other paintings, the intense yellow floodlight heightens dramatic tension and makes all the colors pop!

When I returned to painting in 2010 after my nearly 20-year hiatus, objects such as these became ideal subjects for my still life paintings. Augmenting my trove of highly unusual industrial items with colorful tin toys, croquet and billiard balls and balloons continues to provide me with an endless source of inspiration and discovery. Completed in 2022, this piece is oil on cradled wood panel, 24"h x 30"w, and is framed.
